Dr. Tafuma (MBChB, MPH, PGDip M&E) is the Executive Director for ZHI where he serves as the overall team leader providing strategic leadership and technical direction. He is a Public Health Physician, with a wide experience in implementation science, provision of technical support to large scale projects, program management and strengthening of health care delivery through public and private health facilities and the community.
Technical Advisor
Don has over 40 years of experience successfully designing and implementing a wide range of health projects in over 35 countries around the world. His most recent work included developing and managing over 100 health partnerships between hospitals, universities, and schools of medicine and nursing in the US with similar organizations in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe.
Head of Finance and Operations
Andrew Chasakara is a qualified Chartered Accountant, licensed Public Accountant and Tax Practitioner. He holds an MBA (Finance). Andrew is a renowned financial expert with over 15 years’ experience. He brings extensive wealth of knowledge on USAID-funded projects in areas of financial reporting, budgeting, tax, audits, grants management and USAID rules and regulations.
Head of Compliance, Contracts and Grants (CCG)
Robinson is a qualified accountant and development finance expert with extensive experience in the NGO sector, having managed several multimillion dollar donor-funded projects for both local and international organizations. With a very deep understanding of the USG funding rules and regulations, Robinson has managed both contracts and cooperative agreements for various programs in Zimbabwe.
Human Resources Director
Gilbert is a qualified HR practitioner with vast experience in Human Resources Management across various sectors including but not limited to telecommunications, mining, and non-governmental organizations. He is currently responsible for leading the Human Resources (HR) department for Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI).
Knowledge Management Advisor
A public health specialist with over 13 years’ experience in the design, implementation, program optimization and service quality improvement (POSQI), monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of HIV, Tuberculosis; Maternal, New-born and Child Health programs. He has led and actively participated in adaptation of clinical and M&E guidelines to local context, developed program implementation strategies, work plans, budgets, and M&E strategic documents including M&E plans, performance monitoring plans, data quality assurance strategies and standard operating procedures.

His work has been focused on integrated reproductive, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Non-Communicable Diseases including the design, development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of program strategies, concepts, policies, and projects. As a researcher, he has co-authored and reviewed several scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Tafuma understands USG funding rules and regulations and has provided technical advice to implementing partners (IP’s) and contractors on efficient management of contracts and cooperative agreements to ensure consistency with USG policies and guidance.

Most recently Don served as the Country Director in Zimbabwe for FHI 360 and was an active participant in the founding of ZHI. He has a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California Berkeley. Don and his wife live in the USA.

Andrew has both international and regional footprint. Prior to joining ZHI, Andrew was the Finance and Operations Director for FHI360, other positions held; Regional Financial Analyst with FHI360 South Africa supporting Botswana, Rwanda, Kenya & South Africa; Head of Finance & Corporate Affairs for REPSSI responsible for Eastern and Southern African countries; Associate Director- Finance & Operations with NASTAD South Africa and ActionAid in UK

Robinson is a Chartered Accountant (CA) who holds a Master’s Degree in Development Finance, a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences, a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting and various professional qualifications in accounting, audit, finance, and risk management.
Human Resources Director
Gilbert is a qualified HR practitioner with vast experience in Human Resources Management across various sectors including but not limited to telecommunications, mining, and non-governmental organizations. He is currently responsible for leading the Human Resources (HR) department for Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI). Prior to joining ZHI, Gilbert worked for several leading local and international organizations including FHI360 where he was instrumental in setting the HR Department and was responsible for successfully managing the country HR portfolio for the organisation. He is a holder of a Master of Commerce Degree in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance, a BSc. Honors Degree in Human Resources Management, a Diploma in Human Resources Management from Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ) and a Certificate in Safety Health and Environmental Management. He is highly experienced in managing all the key functional areas of HR including managing HR portfolios for USG funded projects and has experience with various HRIS including SAP, Workday, Pastel, CIMS and Belina.
Gilbert’s exceptional work has been recognized at various levels through nominations and awards including being awarded as the Young HR Director of the year 2021-NGO Sector (IMPZ) and the Second runner up HR Director of the year 2022 (IPMZ)-NGO Sector.

He has led and collaborated with several institutions in the design and implementation of research studies and has experience analysing data using packages including Epi-Info and STATA. Key competencies include strategic leadership, program management, establishment and maintenance of effective partnerships, good understanding of grants management and donor rules and regulations, staff capacity development, knowledge management, setting up functional M&E systems, development of M&E and program strategic documents, set up and maintenance of electronic medical records, data analysis, documentation and dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt.
