1. Background
Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a non-profit human development organization, registered as a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) in Zimbabwe. ZHI’s vision is a world where all populations live with optimal health and self-sufficiency. Its mission is to develop and deliver community centred innovative and sustainable high impact integrated health interventions to the population we serve, through working with and strengthening existing institutions, leveraging technology, and utilizing evidence-based health information. ZHI has a comprehensive, 5-year plan that guides its new business development (NBD) and resource mobilization efforts. One of the key responsibilities of ZHI’s senior management and program staff is resource mobilization that includes among other activities, new funding proposal writing in line with the ever-changing health and development funding landscape.
2. Purpose of Assignment
ZHI seeks to engage the services of a consultant with international experience to lead and facilitate new business development and funding proposal writing capacity building for its senior management and program staff.
3. Objectives
The broad objective of the assignment is to build capacity of senior management and program staff on new business development and funding proposal writing, specific objectives are:
- To conduct a rapid assessment of ZHI’s senior management and program staff capacity in new business development and funding proposal writing,
- To develop new business development and funding proposal writing capacity building tools,
- To build the capacity of senior management and program staff in new business development and funding proposal writing.
4. Scope of Work
The consultant will:
- Develop new business development and funding proposal writing capacity building tools, ensuring that they are responsive to the current health and development funding landscape,
- Conduct a rapid assessment of ZHI’s senior management and program staff capacity in new business development and funding proposal writing,
- Conduct a five-day, physical training of ZHI’s senior management and program staff in Harare, Zimbabwe, and
- Develop a capacity building report and share with ZHI’s Executive Director.
5. Methodology
- Conduct a rapid assessment of ZHI’s senior management and program staff’s capacity in new business development and funding proposal writing using online, anonymous platforms.
- Conduct a five-day, physical capacity building workshop for ZHI senior management and program staff in Harare, Zimbabwe between the 1st and the 30th of November 2025. The consultant will also have latitude to propose other effective, complementary methodologies that fit within the assigned time frame.
6. Deliverables
The consultant will:
- Develop and submit a rapid assessment report on the capacity of ZHI senior management and program staff in new business development and funding proposal writing,
- Deliver a five-day, physical capacity building workshop for ZHI senior management and program staff in Harare, Zimbabwe, and
- Develop and submit a comprehensive capacity building report.
7. Duration
All activities i.e., rapid assessment of staff capacity, physical capacity building workshop and development of workshop report will be conducted within 8 working days.
8. Consultant Profile/Eligibility
The consultant should have:
- At least a master’s degree in business development, public health, or other related fields,
- A minimum of 10 years’ international experience working with international donor agencies /organizations and implementing large health and development programs,
- A minimum of 10 years’ proven experience leading resource mobilization efforts for international non-governmental organizations or related consultancy work,
- Track record of high strike rates for new funding opportunities, and
- Demonstrated training/capacity building skills.
